About APTOSA

The concept of APTOSA was moved by our old students and stalwarts of 1960’s prominently by , Sri P. Mallapa Raju, Sri KGK Murty, and Sri C. Suryanarayana. During Nov 2003, around 30 old students met the Principal, a committee was constituted and the formation of APTOSA (Andhra Polytechnic Old Students Association) was announced on 16/11/2003.          This Association was registred under registered under Societies Registration act of 1860. bearing registration no. 973/2003.

The main objectives of APTOSA are:

To renew and maintain contact between old students and APT and among old students themselves by conducting conventions every year.

To establish academic linkage between APT and old students so that their varied and rich knowledge colid be transferred to the present students.

To create an Institute Development Fund with donations from old students and the general public for repairs to the old buildings and also for creation of additional facilities.

To celebrate Diamond jubilee in the year 2006.

To celebrate Platinum Jubilee in the year of 2021.

To build a office complex/guest house for APTOSA.

To help poor/best students to pursue their studies.

Most of the objectives were flifilled and the details were given during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2006. Two annual conventions were conducted in 2004 and 2005.

The major activities carried out by APTOSA in co-ordination with APT and governments are

1. The repairing of the roof for the main the building including chemical treatment of the leaking roof.
2. Creation of the E-Class room. Further in 2021 the APTOSA is planning to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, 75 years of the APT starting (1946-2021).

Activities carried out by APTOSA before DIAMODN JUBILEE of APT in 2006:

1. Roof repair and water proofing of entire terrace (20,000 Sft)
2. Machine scrapping and painting of Main building exteriors
3. Complete Electrical rewiring
4. Construction of new septic tanks and connected plumbing work
5. Renovation of girls waiting hall with addition of toilets.

Few other old students from batches 1068, 69, 70 pass-outs has celebrated their GOLDEN JUBILEE in 2019 and donated a ‘Digital Library’ to APT with main contribution from another old student of batch 1974-77 ECE Sri Gunturi Appala Raju (ARC India Petroleum Private Limited).

The following jobs were completed in 2020:

1. Construction of new Cycle shed with the capacity of 200 cycles.
2. Renovation of 01 Ladies Toilet block and 01 Gents Toilet Block.

The following jobs are planned to be completed before PLATINUM JUBILEE which will held in December 2021.

1. The repairs carried out to the main building roof slab in 2004 served its purpose for nearly 10 years and the rain water leaks reappeared in 2015. Now the expert civil engineers declared that the roof slab has to be completely demolished as it has outlived its life span (66 years) and a new slab with Prestressed precast hollow core slabs to be laid.
2. Renovation of 2 more Toilet Blocks within the main building.
3. Painting of the whole building (Interior & Exterior), doors & windows.
4. Rectification of the drainage system to prevent water logging within the campus.
5. Renovation of Electrical systems within the main building.
